Providing Good Quality Health Care to the most remote villages in Nigeria.

In partnership with Nigerian medical personnel, Road Seal, Inter-Bau Construction Ltd., and Careway.

Africans Preventing Poverty Foundation is a non-profit, non-governmental and non-political voluntary organization registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in the forefront of programs for the empowerment, raising developmental potentials and impacting the lives of the youths, women, and children to enable them to lead adequate and self-sustainable life in the society.

Our Mandate is to assist the Nigerian society in reforming, restructuring, and rebuilding Nigerian children, women, and youths towards sustainability and strength of character to close the existing gap, reduce poverty, inequality, and illiteracy via empowerment.

APP E-Clinic is an initiative aimed at improving the health facilities of remote villages by using volunteer health workers and technology to fill in the gaps. The money raised on this project will be used to give each member in a selected village access to see a doctor or a specialist that can tend to their needs.

Justification for the Project

The COVID-19 Pandemic has brought to the fore the need to develop the Innovation ecosystem of the country because the accompanying lockdown has made it clear that digital skills and innovative solutions is the new normal.

Provisions of healthcare services throughout the states of Nigeria is especially crucial during this time for the prevention of the spread of the diseases and for the prevention of unnecessary deaths.

With the healthcare system being overworked already and the medical personnel already spread too thin, it is imperative that we use the technological resources available to serve all of the citizens of Nigeria.

Project Goals

The overarching goals of this project are to achieve the following:

Provide good and high quality  healthcare to all citizens.

and

Improving the quality of health and well-being of all citizens.

Creating self-sustainable villages with technology.

Making sure that all citizens have access to good quality healthcare

Assessment of Needs

General practitioner(s) and other healthcare workers must be selected that would be available for the clinic at least 4 times a week, 4 hours per day, in this village. Recruitment for this position is needed.

The selection process includes a pick between the vulnerable villages in Nigeria. Once selected, a team comprising of the representatives of APP Foundation, the Health Department, local GPs and other local healthcare workers, representative from Careway, and a representative from 9Mobile will visit the village. The task of this team is to investigate a suitable location to host a clinic for the village, the required internet service and set-up for the village, the specialist needed for the families in the villages, and the number of patients available for the clinic. After the information has been gathered, the budget for the clinic will be set.

The budget must include cost of medical equipment and supplies, cost of internet service, Careway services, cost for the use of facility (church/ community center), and fee for the GP(s) and other health care workers.

The money raised must be able to cover all expenses related to the functioning of this clinic. This would allow patients to be treated free of charge, also allowing the families in these villages to have their health treated without worry.

The clinic will be run year-round and Go fund me will always be open to collect funds for this project. Once the funds are collected, the funds will be used to pay for the services of the GP(s), Careway and 9Mobile, as well as pay for any medical equipment that is needed for the village. It is a long-term project that will greatly benefit this Nigerian village.

The partners in this project must be always kept up to date with the finances and running of the clinic such as number of patients weekly, services given to patient (check-up, consultation, referral etc.).

Project Benefits

The benefits derivable from this project is the creation of a healthy Nigerian population, where children, youths and women live a long and full life.
