Safeguarding Police Officers on Frontline During COVID-19 Pandemic

Africans Preventing Poverty Foundation and Thinkers Theatre and Empowerment Centre are two non-profit, non-governmental and non-political voluntary organization registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in the forefront of programs for empowerment, raising developmental potentials and impacting the lives of the youths, women, and children to enable them to lead adequate and self-sustainable life in the society.

Our Mandate is to assist the Nigerian society in reforming, restructuring, and rebuilding Nigerian children, women, and youths towards sustainability and strength of character to close the existing gap, reduce poverty, inequality, and illiteracy via empowerment.

Outlined in this proposal is a Programme to advance towards the attainment of these goals.

Problem Statement

Among the important frontline workers in dire need of safeguards are police officers whose line of duties entails close and frequent contact with members of the public. Members of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has suffered immensely from the COVID-19 virus.

In the face of this pandemic, the force is saddled with the twin responsibility of ensuring compliance to established COVID Safety protocols especially as it relates to the restriction of movements and curfew while at the same time performing their traditional duties of maintenance of law and order. It is, therefore, imperative to make available to them personal protective gear and hygiene maintenance tools to enable them carry out their duties smoothly.

Justification of the Project

Protecting the frontline police officers is central to the maintenance of law and order which makes it imperative to provide them with items that can keep them safe in the face of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Project Goals

The goal of the project is to procure and deliver to the Nigerian Police force in the Niger Delta Region and FCT with Disposable Disinfectant wipes which can be attached to the waist belt for periodic usages. It is mainly meant for periodic disinfection of the hands and surfaces like car dashboards, telephones, and car keys.

The activities for this project is to provide disposable wipes to the Nigerian Police Force in the Niger Delta region.:
